Academic Development

Reading, Writing and Speaking

  • All K-7 students are set daily reading assignments that can be completed in conjunction with parents.
  • Students are offered academic and pastoral support for 30 minutes before and after school.
  • Students in Grades K-7 participate in annual, school-wide, public speaking events.
  • Students learn French from Kindergarten as standard and have the option to learn Mandarin through co-curricular activities.
  • K-7 students have access to a dedicated library.

Math and Science

  • The success of our mathematics program speaks for itself: our K-7 students regularly secure top 5 finishes in national and provincial mathematics competitions.
  • Grade K-7 students have access to the High School Science Lab with equipment, tools and designs to investigate scientific inquiries.

Arts, Music and Design Thinking

  • Creative self-expression is an essential part of the CA experience. Extensive art and music programs provide creative opportunities for curious young minds.
  • Access to an ADST room, giving students the opportunity to engage in ‘life-skill’ projects such as cooking and sewing.
  • Throughout elementary school our students learn three musical instruments as standard and have the opportunity to perform at our monthly charity performances as well as our Christmas Show and Graduation.
  • Students also have the opportunity to perform outreach in the local community through our partnership with Senior Houses in the Vancouver area.
  • Students participate in field trips to cultural events, theatres, galleries and festivals.

Physical Education

  • Direct access to ‘Terry Fox Plaza’, allowing for year-round physical activities.
  • Physical and Health Education are designed to encourage participation and skill development in a non-competitive environment.
  • A large, multi-purpose studio that allow our PHE classes to focus on movement, dance, yoga and martial arts which instills in the students a commitment to regular physical activity.
  • Biannual access to the facilities at BC Place.
  • The use of neighbourhood facilities to help develop individual and team sports such as badminton, basketball and soccer.
  • Access to the fitness centre and table-tennis tables at our High School campus
  • A Sports Day every semester
