The CA Difference

At Columbia Academy, academic excellence is only part of the story. Alongside a rigorous educational program, we integrate meditation into the school day—three times daily—providing students with intentional moments to pause, reflect, and recentre. Our staff, trained yearly by a Buddhist meditation master, guide students in this practice. Student meditation supports emotional wellbeing, enhances focus, and fosters personal growth, creating a balanced environment where students can thrive both intellectually and personally.

Charity

At our school, we encourage students to actively participate in charity activities:

  • The school often organizes large-scale charity sale events to raise funds for various local charity organizations.
  • We regularly encourage students to donate books, clothing, and toys to local charity organizations, supporting those in need within the community.
  • The school organizes students to collect food for local charity organizations, such as the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.
Junior School Charity

Through these charity activities, our students learn to show care for others and actively engage in community service. We are dedicated to nurturing our students’ sense of social responsibility and awareness of public welfare, aiming to foster them into compassionate and responsible members of society.

Over the past decade CA has been an active donor to organizations such as St. Paul’s Foundation, The Terry Fox Foundation, Environmental Youth Alliance, Canadian Red Cross and Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Appeal.

Competitions

Our homeroom teachers actively encourage students to participate in a range of national competitions in English and Math. The CA Competition Fund was set up specifically to reward our students who rank in the top 5 entries across the province.

Parent Involvement

We invite you to be part of our family! We communicate regularly with parents via teacher newsletters, learning updates on ‘Seesaw’, volunteer opportunities, parents evenings and events.
